History of Judson Rocket Football

This is Irene Cooper, my maternal grandmother, arriving from Denver on September 1, 1977, the day before Judson beat Clemens. By shear chance of scheduling, she had come down for her first visit in a little more than two years. She went with the rest of my family to the game the following evening, primarily because I was in the Band. As it turned out, it wasn't too bad of a game, either. In view of what happened thereafter, we always reminded her of how "she brought Judson luck." Actually, it was a continued source of fascination for her, as she thereafter followed the progress of the Rockets over the next several seasons and until she died in 1994. Then again, hopefully that's another way of saying she's still following Judson.
